KIN Summer 2008 Workshop 

'Locate, Connect, Collect'

The KIN Summer Workshop theme is ‘Locate, Connect, Collect’. Tougher business goals are demanding smarter use of scarcer resources, so many of our member organisations are looking for better ways of connecting people with expertise, right across the value chain. We will look at the latest developments and concepts behind making those connections. Many organisations have attempted ‘yellow pages’ and are wondering if social computing and ‘ubiquitous search’ really does hold the key to making these connections intuitive and effortless. We will examine both successful and unsuccessful attempts at using such tools and getting behind why they might work. We will have a carefully balanced mix of case-studies, practical activities and thought-leading speakers. The Workshop is a Member-only event, however if your organisation feels able to both contribute and benefit from Network participation, we welcome attendance on the basis of intended membership.

Networking for Knowledge and Innovation

In an eponymous twist, at this workshop we will explore the importance of dynamic networking to achieve success within KM strategies. Exploring how and why we build our own personal networks, and how we use these to develop our own knowledge within and outside our organisations.

With constant demands on our time, it’s tempting to assign a low priority to networking as an activity, but by not paying attention to the potential to utilize these networks we may be negatively affecting our personal and organisational knowledge success. Networking is a skill that can be developed, it takes very little time to get it right and it’s easy to get more proficient at It with practice. This workshop will begin to show you how utilizing our ‘Personal and Social Networks’ can effect a return on investment from intra-organisational and inter-organisational networks worldwide.

Bringing together a range of experts, this interractive workshop will be of benefit to anyone in your business who wants to know more about how to maximise the potential of their personal and business networks to achieve individual and organisational success.
